No Cavities!

Today Bella went to the dentist for the very first time.

She got x-rays done on both sides and then we waited for Dr. Grzanich to come in and check her teeth.

She really liked the chair. Dr. Grz said that her teeth looked great and that her adult molars were starting to come through. He even noticed that one of the front bottom teeth was starting to get a little loose. After the exam we went back out and waited for our turn to get our teeth cleaned.

She picked the mint cleaner instead of the grape...I was surprised.

The suction thing to get the spit and toothpaste out was quite fun. It kept making her lips suck in.

A little bit of flossing and we're almost done!

She liked the fluoride the best...odd because that's the part I always hated! Although it was only for a minute unlike when I was younger. Of course she picked the Cotton Candy flavored fluoride, so how bad could it be, right?

Kindergarten Screening...

Last month the kindergarten teachers called each of the Kindergarten-bound preschool kids out of class and did a pre-screening of sorts. Today we received a letter about Bella's pre-screening. Here's what it had to say...

"Kindergarten curriculum has changed significantly over the years. It is now more academic than in years past and more skills are needed before entering Kindergarten. To help us better understand the ability of your child, a pre-screening kindergarten assessment was conducted. The total possible points to acquire was 116. Out of all the students screened, the average score was 90. Your child, Isabella, scored 108 points."

Sounds like she's off to a good start! We're so proud of our Kindergartner!

I'm Too Smart!

Tonight we had Johnsonville Brats and Mac & Cheese for dinner.

While I was making the Mac & Cheese, Daddy was cooking the brats on the grill. Daddy brought in the brats from the grill and set them on the table, to which Lili promptly made note, "Those are dirty hot dogs!".

Daddy and I laughed.

Then Bella corrected Lili and said, "Those aren't hot dogs" and Daddy agreed with Bella and said, "You're right, those aren't hot dogs, they're brats."

Bella replied, "I know, I'm too smart!"

Seriously, where do they learn this stuff?

The Story of The Two Toed Frog?

For anyone who knows Bella, you know how much she loves animals. And many of you have seen pictures of her holding Lucky, her frog that she makes Papaw catch whenever she sees him in the pond.

Today when we got to mom's house to pick up the girls there was a huge box sitting on the porch...that in and of itself is scary. Inside the box is about 7 or 8 toads and a couple frogs, most of the toads have a friend riding on their back. Mike and I just shook our heads at each other and proceeded to go inside the house. The poor toads, no privacy.

While sitting in the living room waiting for the girls to get ready to go, Bella informs us that she and Papaw have caught some toads. Mamaw prompts her to tell us what kind of toads they are..."They're Two-Toad Frogs!" she tells us. (I'm guessing she's thinking of a Three-Toed Sloth...pretty ingenious for a five year old if you ask me.)

So, now you know what a Two-Toad Frog looks like!

The 'dog' bus...

This morning, we got up at 7am and headed quietly down the stairs, so we didn't wake Lili up. I got you a bowl of cereal and a glass of milk and you ate while I got the rest of things ready for you for school. We got dressed, went to the bathroom, put your shoes on, brushed your hair and put on your backpack...then, at 7:30am, it was time to head out the door to wait on the bus to come.

It's a bit chilly outside at 7:30am, at least when the high is only going to be in the mid-70s...but I assured you that it would be warming up, so you would be fine.

We patiently waited and waited and waited for the bus...

Then, at 7:35am, we saw it coming down the road...

So we walked down the sidewalk to the end of our driveway, looked both ways for cars, crossed the road and waited for the bus to come to a stop in front of us.

I gave you a kiss and told you to have a good day and then you climbed on the bus, so grown up, without even looking back. You've gotten to be such a big girl.

First Haircut

Tonight Bella asked to go in to get her hair cut...actually, she's been asking for a hair cut for the past month or so and I just kept putting it off. So, we actually went in to do it tonight.

One last pose before the haircut.

First we put it into a ponytail...

and then a couple snips...

and it's gone!

10 inches - We're going to send this to Locks of Love.

Now it's time to clean it up.

Making sure the front is even.

She's loving it already!
